This should build the trinity desktop on a clean install of Slackware64 14.2 Please do not installed the KDE4 Desktop, as this will build the Trinity Desktop as the systems native desktop. Plus I have integrated my Trinity desktop directory build structure into my slackbuild.org directory hierarchy. So the directory structure will resemble that of the slackbuild.org directory tree structure, with the addition of trinity. These instructions are distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. 1. Download the trinity-r14.0.3-inpito.tar.bz2 package and untar it to a useful location . I use a thumb drive or my NFS Server. 2. ( Update ) I have replaced jdk with openjdk so there is no longer a need to download jdk, it all compiles completely by it self. 3. Install Slackware64-14.2, from a source of your choosing. I personally download the DVD iso. However, when installing do "NOT" install any package under the KDE4 selection. This means when you install Slackware you will have to UNSELECT the "[] KDE QT and K Destop Enviroment for X" during the installation process. Likewise, choose no desktop when the xwmconfig screen appears, then continue with the installation until the operating system is installed. Note: I usually do not install Mplayer or Firefox, or thunderbird from the installation as I compile newer versions of the software later. but that is just me. 5. Go to the location where you untared the trinity-r14.0.3-inpito.tar.bz2 and issue the following command as root. # ./trinity.compile.sh 6. Once the system finishes compiling then issue the following command as root. # xwmconfig and Select the TDE: Trinity Desktop Enviroment 7. Reboot the computer. 8. Once the computer is rebooted, login and at the command prompt type # startx and the trinity desktop should work. Note: Please remember this will install Trinity into the native /usr directory structure, not the /opt/trinity directory, what that means is that if you attempt to install binaries compilied from packages built for the /opt/trinity directory don't expect them to work with the inpito build packages. Finally: I am not above error or mistake, so if you find any errors, or mistake, it would be nice to have some insight into it, and any solution to those errors or mistakes. Hope it works for you!
